PANJIM/MARGAO: Sporting Clube de Goa U-14’s continued their fine run in the GFA U-14 league as they breezed past Fr Angel Youth Club at the Batim ground, on Thursday.
A fine brace each from Joseph D’Souza (28’ and 67’) and Joquim Pereira (53’ and 75’) and a goal from Nash Camilo (69’) helped the young Flaming Oranje register a 5 – 1 victory over Fr Agnel YC, who scored the only goal early in the 7th minute.
Sporting won a penalty in the 4th minute however Joseph D’Souza shot it wide of the post missing the early opportunity.
Fr Agnel boys managed to exploit the slight lack of concentration by the Sporting defence as they took an early lead in the 7th minute.
It took Sporting 28 minutes to find an equaliser when Joseph D’Souza made up for his earlier error with a good right footer to put things on level before the break.
In the second half, Sporting Clube came out with intent destroying the Fr Agnel defence.
Joquim Pereira started the Fr Agnel YC rout with a stunning 53rd minute goal and followed it up with another in the 75th.
Joseph came back haunting in the 67thminute and then made a wonderful assist to Nash Camilo in the 69th minute; the latter connected it well to leave the goal keeper clueless.
With this win Sporting has collected 9 points from 3 matches.
In another match, Benfica YC held UC Utorda to a 1-1 draw, at Cansaulim ground, on Thursday.
In a match dominated by Benfica YC, Anthony opened the account for UC Utorda in the 20th minute while Rahul equalised for Benfica YC in the 28th minute.
