PANJIM: Sportsweek CC of Goa and Vijaya CA (Belgaum) scored easy wins against Nasik CA by 136 runs in the second late Babu Naik All India U-16 Cricket Tournament, at SAG Margao and Jaipur CA by 78 runs at Agonda grounds respectively, on Friday.
At SAG ground, winning the toss and electing to bat, the Sportsweek team was in trouble at 65 for 3 with left arm seamer Prachit Devkar (4 for 45) pitching the right length and swinging it into the batsmen. But Skipper Sanath Prabhudesai (65) and Pushpadeep Kossambe (51) played steadily and shared a 127 run 4th wicket partnership. Sanath Nevgi (40), Dewan Chittam (37) and Lenka (23) chipped in to prop up the score to 255 in 45 overs losing 8 wickets.
Left-handed diminutive opener Shervin Kiswa (44) was the only batsman to counter the disciplined bowling by Sportsweek bowlers. Spinners Tusar Patel (3 for 31), Arya Rajput (2 for 16) and Saiesh Satardekar (1 for 18) were the wreckers.
At Agonda ground, Vijaya CA elected to bat first. A superb spell by Nitin Barala (6 for 18) could not prevent the Belgaum side to post a formidable 173 all out in 31 overs. Skipper Mayankraj (55) and Steven Byali (50) batted well to take the total to 156 for 2 but then Nitin skittled them for 172.
