RAIA: The SS Tennis Academy was opened at Fatorda, recently. Chief guest Margao MLA and former chief minister of Goa Digambar Kamat inaugurated the one of its kind full-fledged tennis academy in the presence of founder members Subodh Shevde, Manali Shevde, Nishad Shevde, Tejas Shevde, sports personalities and other dignitaries.
“The SS Tennis Academy aims to teach tennis the right way – may be for taking up the sport professionally and also for recreational purpose. The processes, and the courses developed by the academy caters to all the age groups, with highly experienced and trained professionals guiding the students to high quality outcomes. Fatorda court being its main centre, the academy will also have its branches at Colva, Porvorim, Panjim and at BPS Sports Club, Margao,” stated the founder members.
Nishad Shevde gave the welcome address and stressed on the importance of tennis as a way of life.
Digambar gave a motivational speech addressing the kids present at the function. He spoke about the importance of sports in general, and how academies such as the SS Tennis Academy will help take Goa onto the national stage.
Referring to his childhood memories, Digambar highlighted on how even smallest of sporting events can help bring everyone together.
Talking about tennis in particular, Digambar referred to this sport as a highly skilled sport which not many Goans play, and that the opening of a full-fledged academy like this would help more Goans get into tennis. Tejas Shevde proposed a vote of thanks.
