Suraj Hadkonkar scored a brace while Richard Fernandes scored the other goal for the winners. Micky Fernandes pulled one back for the Guardian Angel SC.
Guardian Angel SC made two changes in the side as Ashley and Josley Dias made way for regulars Nicholas Rodrigues and Perryson Rebello while SCC Cavelossim resorted to their usual squad as coach Severeno Fernandes made no changes in the team.
Riding on the good support from the stands, SCC Cavelossim dominated the opening minutes and had the first crack at the rival goal in the 4th minute when Bersal Viegas saw his shot beat the keeper only to be denied by the woodwork.
Cavelossim didn’t take long to open the account as the opposition defence seemed to be out of shape. Suraj Hadkonkar came with a simple tap in to guide in a quickly taken throw-in from Franzil in the seventh minute.
Guardian Angel SC, who earlier stunned big names in the group stage couldn’t just put up their past performance. The Curchorem side were on the receiving end as Cavelossim players opted to fly shots from distance.
Cavelossim scored the second of the evening through Suraj as he fired his free-kick in the top corner to give his side a two goal cushion.
Cavelossim were more relaxed after the second goal and tried long range shots forcing Guardian Angel keeper to be on his toes.
The first half saw the Curchorem side on the back foot as the defence failed to stand their guard.
Crossing ends, Cavelossim continued from where they left. Guardian Angel SC keeper pulled off a stunning save to deny Suraj his hat-trick. That should have been game over for Guardian Angel.
In the 45th minute, Curchorem keeper Pratheesh VV was brought into action once again when Suraj ran down the left flank before testing the keeper from distance, however, Richard Fernandes scored off the rebound to take the game beyond Guardian Angel reach.
Guardian Angel SC just couldn’t find the right rhythm. The Curchorem side were awarded a penalty when the opposition was fouled in the box. Micky stepped over and pulled a goal back for Guardian Angel in the 54th minute.
Guardian Angel SC went all out to score the goals but Cavelossim were just too strong for the tournament underdogs on Sunday.
SCC Cavelossim Moises bagged the man-of-the-match award.
