BETALBATIM: St Anthony Assolda edged past Cuncolim Union SC 3-2 to move into the quarterfinals of the Late Pacheco Cup at village panchayat ground, Betalbatim, on Monday.
Daulat Dessai of Cuncolim and Alton Vaz sparkled with their shooting power and dribbling.
Assolda netted the first goal through Aldreach Piexito in the 22nd minute.
They doubled the lead through Vitorino Fernandes in the 33rd minute. Cuncolim Union netted two quick goals through Trijoy Dias and Daulat Dessai in the 46th and 50th minutes respectively to bring the match alive.
Valerian Carvalho, however, netted the match-winner for Assolda in the 63rd minute.
The man-of-the-match award was handed to Alton Vaz of St Anthony SC Assolda.
