VASCO: St Anthony Sports Club Marna-Siolim edged past United Club of Telaulim 7-6 via the tie-breaker to sail in to the semi-finals of the 44th Bandodkar memorial football tournament organised by Baina Sports Club, at MPT ground, Vasco on Saturday.
St Anthony SC shot into the lead in the 46th minute wherein Sherwin Fernandes romped home 1-0 off a pass from Joel Fernnades from the midfield, after a barren first half.
Later, Hardworking UC Telaulim’s strike Clinton Niaso sent in a rasping 15 yard volley straight into the nets past gaping St Anthony’s keeper Sahil Chari in the 69th Minute.
At the normal regulation time the scoreboard read 1-1.
In the resultant tie-breaker Siolim’s Sherwin Lobo, Joel Fernnades, Claudio Rodrigues, Vipul Pednekar, Sahil Chari and Gaurav Vaingankar were on target while Clinton Niaso, Suraj Naik, Alroy Masceranhas, Joseph Gomes and Fr Americo Rodrigues managed to find the far end of the net for UC Telaulim.
Clinton Niaso of United Club of Telaulim was adjudged the man-of-the-match which was handed over by the chief guest Sanjay Satardekar.
