BENAULIM: St Anthony SC, Colva defeated SCC Cavelossim 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the St Sebastian Union Club Benaulim Cup football tournament, played at St John the Baptist ground, Benaulim on Wednesday.
SCC Cavelossim Bryson Cardozo had the first opportunity but his left footed effort was saved by St Anthony keeper Joemio Fernandes in the 4th minute.
Minutes later, St Antony’s Nelson Gomes’ freekick took a deflection off the wall and nearly trickled into the back of the Cavelossim net, but Cavelossim’s Viraj Luis cleared the ball off the line.
St Anthony SC Colva took time to settle into the game and then scored two quick goals through Keith Rodrigues who scored a brace netting in the 15th and 21st minutes.
SCC Cavelossim pulled a goal back through Bryson Cardozo in the 34th minute.
St Anthony SC Colva will meet the winners of CRC Chinchinim and Parish Youth Nuvem on July 9 in the semi-finals.
