St Anthony SC edge past Navelim Villagers Union

Sunny and Moses find the net for the winners while Clinton scores a consolation goal

BENAULIM: St Anthony SC, Assolda edged past Navelim Villagers Union 2-1 to move into the semi-finals of the 29th Super Soccer football tournament organised by United Boys of Dando, Colva, at Sao Joao Baptist ground, Dando-Benaulim, on Monday. 
The first best chance of the match came in the third minute,  Navelim striker Clinton Niasso who after taking control of the ball from midfielder Americo Rodrigues dribbled past Assolda defenders Darren Fernandes and Cruz Gomes and shot from the edge of the box but the Assolda keeper Johnson Fernandes saved it brilliantly.
At the other end, Assolda’s Rosario Fernandes long ranger missed the Navelim target by a whisker in the 5th minute.
In the second half, Assolda netted the first goal of the match through Sunny Fernandes who tapped the ball into Navelim nets off Joaquim Carvalho’s connect in the 40th minute.
Covan Lawrence sent in a long ball to Navelim striker Aldrich Coelho but the latter’s shot hit the Assolda side netting in the 42nd minute. 
In the 55th minute, Assolda’s Rosario Fernandes assisted Moses D’Sa to make it 2-0.
As the Assolda defender intentionally fouled a Navelim player, the referee awarded a free-kick to Navelim. 
Clinton Niasso took a curling free-kick which crossed the heads of four Assolda players and landed into Assolda nets to make it 1-2 for Navelim in the 60th minute.
