St Anthony SC enter final

PANJIM: St Anthony Sports Club, Marna-Siolim edged past Saligao Sporting Club, 8-7 via the sudden-death to move into the final of 39th Cana-Benaulim football tournament organized by Cana Benaulim Sporting Association, at St John the Baptist ground, Benaulim, on Thursday.

The teams were locked 1-1 at full time. 
Both the teams enjoyed ball possession with the defence guarding their forts.
In the first sixth minute, Siolim’s Sangam Pednekar found Paresh Korgaokar in an ideal position but the latter’s shot missed the target by inches.
At the other end, Saligao’s Craig Menezes essayed the ball to Ajay Diwadkar but the striker’s grounder was blocked by the rival custodian with ease. 
Post resumption, the deadlock was broken in the 46th minute through Sherwin Lobo, who scored off an assist by Dalesh Pednekar.
However, Saligao tried hard and equalized in the 51st minute through Ajay’s deft placement. The striker was well fed by midfielder Bibiano Fernandes.
The penalty shoot-out went on to the sudden death where St Anthony had the last laugh.
