CHANDOR: St Anthony SC, Assolda got the better of Sporting Club of Davorlim 6-5 via tie-breaker to advance to the semi-finals of the 14th All Goa Guirdolim Panchayat Cup, organised by Guirdolim Club and played at Chandor Church ground.
No goals were scored in the first session. Post resumption it was Assolda who took the initiative and in the 40th minute Fhezer Gomes missed a sitter to put Assolda in the lead. In the 47th minute Agneas Vaz of Assolda who was fed by Fhezer Gomes, shot wide when on one-to-one situation with the rival keeper.
In the 53rd minute Agneas was once again the culprit as he could not score with the goalkeeper Davorlim goalkeeper completely beaten. Davorlim missed a golden opportunity to seal the match in their favour in the 55th minute but Mack Borges failed to control the ball from a corner kick for an easy tap in.
In the tie-breaker, Jovito Carvalho, Fayden Pereira, Kevin Vaz, Ageas Vaz, Juliao Fernandes and Succor Fernandes scored for Assolda while Apolonio Oliveira and Vicky Fernandes missed. For Davorlim, Donald Rocha, Agnelo Colaco, Rayan Furtado, Ashikesh Shetty and Leasser Raikar scored while Sachin Astekar, Piedade Colaco and Joe Gomes shot wide.
