MAJORDA: St Anthony SC, Assolda beat Rossman Cruz SC, Nagoa, 5-4 via tie-breaker in the final of the Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial inter-village football tournament, played at Musson ground, Majorda, on Sunday.
Rossman Cruz SC dominated throughout the match and made several attempts at the Assolda goal but their goalkeeper came to their rescue on many occasions and was unbeatable. The match ended in a goal-less draw at regulation time. In the tie breaker, St Anthony SC scored through Benson Fernandes, Mario Fernandes, Agnes Vaz, Jovito Carvahlo and Kevin Vaz while Savio Fernandes, Noel D’silva, Hilton fernandes and Benston Baretto found the net for Rossman Cruz SC.
The chief guest for the final was Wilfred D’Sa, MLA of Nuvem constituency while Alvaro Braganza, was the guest of honour. Nelly Rodrigues, ZP Member was the special Invitee along with Sarpanch and members of the Village Panchayat, Majorda.
