MAPUSA: St Anthony’s Sports Club Marna trounced Xetrapal Sports Club to move ahead in the Pio Jose Gouveia memorial inter-village football tournament, organised by Youth Sports Club Colvale, played at Colvale church ground, on Thursday.
Marna took the lead in the 11th minute through a fierce header by Kashiram Pomburphekar off a Sherwin Lobo cross 1-0.
In the 27th minute, Anselm D’Souza took advantage of a defensive error from Shivam Dhabolkar to easily place the ball past Xetrapal keeper Francis Fernandes, 2-0.
Mayuresh Naik made it 3-0 in favour of Marna just before half time with a superb placement.
On crossing end, hunger for goals did not end with Marna netting in their fourth goal through Nashon Norohna who guided the ball into the goal off a cross by Sahil Pomburphekar.
Best performance from the losing team went to Vivan Mayekar of Xetrapal SC.
