MAPUSA: St. Anthony’s SC, Marna got the better of Quitula Sports Club with a 4-2 win in GFA’s U-14 league match, played at Duler Stadium, here on Friday.
With Friday`s win St Anthony’s SC, Marna have six points from three matches, while Quitula SC have no points having lost both their matches.
Marna started the match brightly and took the lead in the 9th minute through Swayam Kerkar in a goalmouth melee to give his side the lead.
Quitula responded to the early set-back by equalising through Brian Vaz who controlled a pass from Samuel Pinto and slotted the ball past the goalkeeper to make it 1-1.
Marna restored their one goal advantage just before half-time when Vishant Dhargalkar scored from the corner to make it 2-1.
Marna could have further inflated the score sheet on crossing ends but striker Dominic Fernandes who after missing a clear goal scoring chance finally found the back of the net to make it 3-1.
Quitula’s Brian Vaz gave his side hopes of a comeback by beating an offside trap and scored his brace to make it 3-2.
However, Marna boys held their nerves and Vishant Dhargalkar got his brace to give full three points to his team.
