DULER: St Britto’s HS, Mapusa, fought gallantly to register a 4-2 win over Our Lady of Mount Carmel HS, Arambol, in the finals of the Boy’s U-14 Subroto Mukharjee football tournament organized by DYSA, held at Duler stadium, Mapusa on Wednesday.
Tanish Tendulkar and Harsh Nagvenkar stole the limelight for St Brittos school win with their dribbling skills and ball possession. The teams went into the breather locked in a 1-1 draw. Arambol school took the lead through Velen D’Souza while Harsh Nagvenkar receiving an assist from Rishi Pavaskar equalized for St Brittos. A minute before the breather St Brittos goalkeeper Jaison DSouza brought back to back saves blocking strikes by Velen and Sheryl. On crossing ends Arambol once again took the lead when Sheryl brilliantly flicked the ball into the goal off his teammate free-kick 2-1.
Displaying a never say die spirit saw St Britto mount pressure and score thrice through Aarush Sawant, Harsh Nagvenkar and Tanish Tendulkar to pave their teams way into the State finals.
