FATORDA: St Joseph Educational Institute, Chandor blanked Saviour of the World HS, Loutolim 3-0 to move into the quarter-finals of the U-14 Subroto Mukherjee football tournament organised by DSYA, at Artificial turf Fatorda on Monday.
Shawn Clemente of St Joseph was the star of the match as he created scoring chances. He dribbled past a couple of defenders and in many style shot into Loutolim net to open the score line for St Joseph in the 10th minute.
In the 40th minute, Shawn Clemente scored his brace to make it 2-0 for St Joseph.
As the match progressed, in the 46th minute, Ashwell Peixoto of Chandor took a long range shot which curled into Saviour’s net to make it 3-0 for St Joseph.
In another match, The Kings School, Sao Jose de Areal pipped Our Lady of Carmel HS, Curtorim 1-0 to move into the quarter-finals.
Abiel Costa netted the match-winner.
Meanwhile, Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim defeated Marina English HS, Verna 6-4 via the tie-breaker.
Velroy Rebello and Domingo Cardo netted a goal each for Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim while Salvador Gama and Jodein Abranches netted a goal each for Marina English HS.
In the resultant tie-breaker Perpetual Succour Convent HS, Navelim proved to be better shooters.
