CALANGUTE: St Joseph’s Boys Home Calangute and Vivian Niwas Girls Hostel Siolim secured the first positions in the Lions Sports Meet for Underprivileged Children hosted by Lions Club Chodan in collaboration with Lions Club of Mapusa Suburban, Assagao, Arpora-Nagoa-Parra, Aldona, Anjuna, Calangute, Candolim, Old Goa and Thivim, at St Joseph’s Boys Home Calangute recently.
In the boys section, the second place was secured by Moving School-Arpora and third place by El-Shaddai Charitable Trust-Assagao.
Whereas in the girls section, the second place was secured by El-Shaddai Charitable Trust-Assagao and third place by Sister of Adorers-Tivim.
Over 200 children from Institute of Provedoria-Candolim, St Joseph’s Boys Home Calangute, El-Shaddai Charitable Trust-Assagao, Vivian Niwas-Siolim, Sister of Adorers-Tivim, Moving school Arpora participated in the sports meet.
Chief guest Patron of Sporting Clube de Goa Peter Vaz, guest of honour former Deputy Commissioner of Customs Tony Dias, special invitees Sarpanch of Parra Delilaha Lobo, Sarpanch of Candolim Blaize Fernandes distributed the trophies and certificates to the children.
Lions Club President Agnelo D’Silva welcomed the gathering while Anthony Fernandes proposed the vote of thanks.
