St Rita HS, Perpetual Succor advance

CHINCHINIM: St Rita High School, Maina-Curtorim defeated Assumpta Convent, Sarzora 2-0 in the next round of the St Joseph Under-17 Cup football tournament, at Chinchinim Church ground, on Thursday.

CHINCHINIM: St Rita High  School, Maina-Curtorim defeated Assumpta Convent, Sarzora 2-0 in the next round of  the St Joseph Under-17 Cup football tournament, at Chinchinim Church ground, on Thursday.
The match started on a high note, as Myron Ferrao hit the frame work right in the 2nd minute, for St Rita High School. 
St Rita’s HS came back strong displaying a lot of positional football, with Samson Fernandes marshalling the midfield in the 8th minute, but failed to connect the ball to Jovito Castaha.
Both the teams were tied  0-0 during the first half.
In the second half, the teams displayed an attacking football. St Rita HS had the upper hand in the 50th minute as Jovito intercepted a long ball from Samson, and placed the ball in the goal, making it 1-0. Nagraj Naik of St Rita HS made it 2-0,  as he headed a cross from Riston Pereira.
In another match, Perpetual Succor Convent, Navelim defeated Mae Dos Pobres High School 4-3 via the tie-breaker. Perpetual Succor Convent were leading 1-0 during lemon break.
Perpetual Succor Convent took the lead with the efforts of Richie Fernandes in the 23rd minute. In the dying minute of second half, Mae dos Pobres equalised through Shawn.
As the score remained 1-1, so the tie-breaker system was applied in which Perpetual Succor Convent High School netted through Joshua, Edesel and Pelven while for Mae Dos Pobres Shawn and Clefaso were on target.
