RAIA: St Rock Youth Club, Majorda got the better of Youth Club of Manora 1-0 in the GFA Second Division League match, played at Raia ground, on Thursday.
Substitute Snell Rodrigues scored the only goal of the match in the 73rd minute to give the three vital points for his team.
The match was evenly balanced in the first half as both the teams had their chances to score.
Manora striker Dadapeer Patel had the first shot on target in the seventh minute but the lad’s curl shot was brilliantly saved by the rival keeper Sico Costa.
Majorda team had two great chances to take the lead but Manora keeper Swizel Pereira was equal to the task as he denied Ismael Pathan on both the occasions.
In the 23rd minute, Majorda Fleslion Fernandes and Russelo Fernandes combined well to break the rival defence but Manora Valito Miranda last minute tacked foiled their move.
Majorda had the best chance of the match in the 43rd minute, When Lyod Dias fed Wendell Coelho inside the danger zone but the latter shot straight at the keeper.
There were no scores at half-time.
In the 67th minute, Manora’s Dadapeer’s over-head kick missed the St Rock’s nets by whiskers.
At the other end, Majorda’s Henning Pereira’s header was easily collected by the keeper in the 69th minute.
St Rock YC, Majorda coach did a valuable substitution in the 70th minute by getting in U-20 Snell Rodrigues who changed the script of the match scoring the only goal of the match with a sublime finish off Ismael Pathan assist.
Lyod denied Manora the equaliser with a goal line save when he stretched full to deny Shubert Colaco’s effort off a corner kick.
At Chicalim ground, Mormugao United Sports Club blanked Young Humorist Club 4-0.
At Navelim ground, Raitura Sports Club trounced Fr Agnel Youth Sports Club 4-2. Immam Sab scored a hat-trick (42’, 56’, 65’). Johnny D’Cruz was the other scorer for winners while Frazier Gomes struck a brace for losers.
At Curtorim ground, Maina Sports Club and Mandopa Sports Club played out a 1-1 draw.
At Cuncolim ground, Cuncolim Union defeated St Sebastian Union Club 4-1.
