RAIA: St. Rock YSC of Majorda qualified for the finals of Cavelossim Panchayat Rolling Trophy inter-village football tournament defeating Varca SC 2-1 at Fr. Druston and Wellington ground, Cavelossim on Saturday.
Majorda with strong medios Beevan and Russel drew first blood in the very second minute when Irfan Lal took a snap shot which gave no chance whatsoever to Mahamad under the Varca bar.
Irfan had another easy chance when he shot from the edge of the penalty which however, missed by inches.
Crossing over, Majorda increased the lead. Russel Fernandes gave an accurate pass to Lanny of Majorda who easily tapped the ball into the Varca goal.
Varca did attack with Aaron and Clayton combining well, but often they failed to cross at the right time. However, Aaron made amends when in a solo move he volleyed in a long ranger from the centre which was misjudged by the Majorda goalkeeper.
Irfan Lal got the man-of-the match award from chief guest PI Therron D’Costa of Colva Police Station in the presence of sarpanch Dixon Vaz.
