CALATA-MAJORDA: Hosts St Rock’s YC, Calata-Majorda got the better of Guirdolim SC 3-2 to move into the semi-final of the 30th St Rock’s Super Soccer organised by St. Rocks YC, at St. Rock’s ground, Calata-Majorda, on Wednesday.
St. Rock’s could have scored in the fourth minute when a through pass by Nelton Miranda found Meuton Fernandes but the latter’s placement shot was saved by the Guirdolim keeper Akram Yadwad.
In the 20th minute, Meuton was again in the thick of things but this time he was on target to give St Rock’s the lead. After the set-back, Guirdolim regrouped and pressurized the St Rock’s YC defence and equalised in the 25th minute through Irfan Yadwad off an assist from Kevin Vaz.
In the second half, St Rock’s came up with new ideas and were all over the Guirdolim territory and took the lead once again through Meuton who scored his second off an assist created by Lester Vaz.
In the 40th minute, Samson Braganza scored the third goal for St. Rock’s YC. Guirdolim pulled one more goal back in the dying minutes through Irfan Yadwad.
St. Rock’s YC will now meet PY Nuvem in the semis.
