CAVELOSSIM: St Rock’s Youth Club, Calata scored a resounding 5-2 win over United Club of Benaulim in the Goa Football Association (GFA) Third Division League Salcete Zone, at Cavelossim ground, on Sunday.
Despite a fine brace from Flesbern Ferrao for the winners, it was Suraj Naik who stood out for Majorda side, as the latter sprayed passes and created maximum chances for his team.
While the heavy showers made it difficult for both the teams to settle in the game, St Rock’s YC managed to take the lead at the half-hour mark when Suraj Naik on collecting a pass from the centre made his way in the rival territory before finding Flesbern, who covered some ground before unleashing a powerful strike in the bottom corner to make it 1-0. Down by the goal, the Benaulim side regrouped and levelled terms through Nefron Rodrigues to get his side back into the game.
With back on level terms, Benaulim played slow football and soon found themselves a goal down when Flesbern scored to complete his brace. St Rock’s YC finally got the deserved lead after dominating the play in the second quarter. Majorda side led 2-1 at break.

At the other end, Rizwan and Vellesly played well for Benaulim side, however, the duo couldn’t do much as they lacked support from their teammates.
