VAGATOR: St Savio Sports Club Calangute thrashed F C Siolim 5-0, in the 18th Vagator Soccer cup, organized by Vagator Parish Youth SC, at Vagator Parish Youth Ground, Ozran beach, on Wednesday.
Pedro Gonsalves was in his best form in today’s outing, firing in one goal in the first half and three in the second session of play.
In a one-sided affair, Calangute shot into the lead in the 24th minute of play when Pedro Gonsalves curled in a brilliant free kick to the far end of the Siolim goal.
Crossing over Deep Govekar came teasingly close to increasing the lead, however he faltered on entering the danger zone.
At the other end Joel Fernandes’ powerful shot was kept away by the diving Calangute keeper Siddharth Simepuruskar.
F C Siolim’s defense eventually crumbled under the constant pressure put forth by the Calangute side which saw Pedro Gonsalves fire in three more goals in the 43rd, 46th and 55th minute.
Ashley Lobo added his name to the scorers list in the injury time of the match.
At full-time the score was 5-0.
