MAPUSA: St Sebastian SC registered a hard-fought 1-0 win over hosts Anjuna Gymkhana in the Anjuna Gymkhana Cup 2024 match played at Anjuna Gymkhana ground, Anjuna, on Sunday.
The first half session was equally contested though Anjuna Gymkhana had slightly better of the exchanges where Rohan Ali’s long range shot was well collected by rival keeper and again in the 25th minute Renny saw his shot sail over the crossbar.
Crossing ends, it was Mapusa-based team that took early lead. Anthony sent a pinpoint cross to unmarked Danish whose header crashed into the back of the nylon, 1-0.
Anjuna Gymkhana exerted tremendous pressure on the rival citadel in search of the equaliser but the last line of St Sebastian defence held to their one goal lead till the final hooter. Anthony of Anjuna Gymkhana was adjudged the player-of-the-match.
