MAJORDA: St Sebastian Youth Club, Fatorda entered the final of 20th Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial Football Tournament, defeating St Anthony Sports Club, Assolda 7-6 via the tie-breaker, at Musson ground, Majorda, on Tuesday.
Both the teams played attacking football throughout the match but both the team goalkeepers showed their might in bringing spectacular saves.
Assolda defenders looked confident with Cruz Gomes and Juliao Fernandes giving good account of themselves with timely clearances before any damage was done by the Fatorda strikers.
In the second session, Fatorda’s Mackwin Soares almost scored but before he could take the shot at the goal from top of the box, Assolda defender Cruz Gomes cleared the ball for safety.
In the last few minutes of play, Assolda’s Irfan Yadwad made two attempts with his long range shot which were nullified by Fatorda keeper Swizel Periera.
As the teams were locked in a dead lock, the tie-breaker system was adopted to decide the winners in which St Sebastian proved to be better shooters, scoring accurately through Valito Miranda, Vellino Barretto, Mackwin Soares, Melvan Furtado, Christopher Borges, Mexwell Furtado and Flyden Dias, whereas St Anthony SC Assolda could find the Mark only though Cruz Gomes, Juliao Fernandes, Irfan Yadwad, Benson Fernandes, Safic Sheikh and Welson Fernandes.
