PANJIM: St Anthony High School, Galgibag will clash with St Tereza of Jesus High School, Chaudi in the final of the 1st Mandovi Parivar Rolling Trophy inter-school football tournament, organised by Canacona Sports Academy and Jana Sena at Nirakar Sports complex, Mashem, on Thursday.
In the first semi-final, St Anthony HS defeated Govt High School, Sadolshem 7-6 via tie-breaker. The scores were level 2-2 in regulation time. Government HS took the lead in the 13th minute through Gangaram Kharat. St Anthony’s HS equalised in the 20th minute through Baran Fernandes. However, Gangaram gave Govt HS the lead just before the break to make it 2-1.
Crossing ends, Kahil Barreto equalised in the 48th minute. In the resultant tie-breaker, St Anthony proved better shooters in the sudden death.
Gangaram was declared the Man-of-the-Match.
In the second semi-final, it was one sided affair as St Anne’s Institute, Agonda thumped St Tereza of Jesus HS 4-0. St Anne’s took the lead in the 4th minute through Branon Rodrigues. In the second half, Debendra Pun scored two goals while Pritesh Mirashi increased the gap with one goal. Debendra was declared as Man-of-the-Match.
