VELSAO: St. Thomas High School, Cansaulim, Deepvihar High School, Sada Vasco, Vadem Nagar English High School, Vasco moved ahead in the U-17 Subroto Mukherjee Football tournament, organised by Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs at DSYA ground, Velsao.
In the first match, St Thomas High School, Cansaulim thumped Vidhyavihar High School, Cortalim 5-0.
In the first half, Sagar Naik gave St. Thomas High School, Cansaulim the lead in the 15th minute. Preetam Kattimani doubled the lead in the 20th minute. Masaia D’Melo made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute.
In the second half, Rio Rodrigues found the net in the 30th minute. Sagar Naik scored his second goal to take the final tally to 5-0 in the 37th minute.
In the second match, Deepvihar High School, Sada Vasco registered a solitary goal against St. Ann’s High School, Quelossim.
Punit Fadte scored the match-winner in the 13th minute. In the second half, Christany Xavier tried to equalise with a power packed shot but Deepvihar goalkeeper Chetan Toraskar saved the goal in the 40th minute.
In the third match, Vadem Nagar English High School, Vasco piped Anjuman High School, Baina 1-0.
Hasnayn Pathan scored a winning goal in the 10th minute.
