PANJIM: St Xavier College, Mapusa won the inter-collegiate Judo championship for women organized by Goa University, recently.
The winning contingent comprised of Swati Halankar, Brenda D’Sa, Sheral D’Mello, Jean D’Costa, Astrid Pereira and Priyanka Mandal.
Brenda bagged the gold medal after defeating Sonia Kashyap of Caculo College in the final of 52kg category. Similarly, Astrid Pereira got the better of Snusha Gawas of Govt. College, Sanquelim to win the gold medal in the 78kg category.
In the weight category of 78 kg and above, Sheral D’Mello beat Gicella Fernandes of Rosary College to claim the gold medal. Meanwhile, Priyanka bagged the bronze medal in the 44kg event, Swati clinched bronze in the 57kg category and Jean bagged another bronze medal the 63kg category event.
