MAPUSA: St Xavier’s Moira, St. Xavier’s Mapusa and St Theresa’s Candolim advanced in the Bardez Taluka U-17 girls Subroto Mukherjee football tournament, organised by DYSA, at Duler ground, here on Monday.
In the first match, St. Xavier’s High School Moira defeated Little Flower of Jesus High School Calangute by solitary goal.
The all important goal was scored by Saniya Mavlankar.
In the second match, St. Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa drubbed Holy Cross High School, Siolim 7-0. It was Namita Govekar who did most of the damage as she hammered in four goals while Mikayla Pinto scored a hat-trick.
In the last match of the day, St THeresa’s High School, Candolim defeated Sacred Heart of Jesus High School, Anjuna 3-1.
Pushpa Parab, Leandra Fernandes and Agnela Antao scored a goal each for Candolim while promising player Chandana Lamini managed to reduce the margin by scoring the consolation goal for the Anjuna school.
