PANJIM: St Xavier’s College, Mapusa, downed DM’s College and Research Centre, Assagao, 3-0, to march into the final of Goa University inter-collegiate women football championship played at Goa University ground, Taleigao Plateau, on Saturday.
In the first half, St Xavier’s College, scored two goals. Both were scored by Pushpa Parab, to complete her brace. Crossing over, St Xavier’s College, continued their offensive play and increased their tally with the efforts of Jwella D’Souza.
In another semi-final, Rosary College, Navelim registered a comfortable win over Don Bosco College, Panjim, 2-0.
In the first half, both teams strengthened their defence and very few offensive moves were witnessed resulting in goalless draw. On resumption of play, Rosary College showcasing strong offensive play netted two goals, which were scored by Lillian Fernandes and Aniela Barretto, to register a 2-0 win and confirmed their seat in the final.
