CANSAULIM: Salgaocar Football Club Juniors extend their undefeated streak in style as they hammered Baina Youth Recreation Center 7-1 in their Goa Football Association’s Second Division football league match (Mormugao zone), at the Dr T B Cunha sports complex, here, on Monday. They led 3-0 at half time.
The Salgaocar lads started aggressively with numerous attempts. They surged ahead in the 19th minute when a cross from Raja Rawat was headed in by a rival defender.
Baina were not given a chance to rest long as in the 22nd minute, Domnic Soares came to haunt their defensive line setting up a cross which lead to another own-goal.
The star of the match Naro Shrestha got into action in the 26th minute as he converted a free-kick from outside the box.
Post resumption, the trend continued as Godfrey Mascarenhas increased the tally.
Subsequently, the next two goals came from Naro in the 52nd and 70th minutes to secure a hat-trick. The stellar striker also made a series of attempts and passes as he was able to provide two assists.
The Baina lads were determined however to not leave empty handed as in the 89th minute they rallied up to take a goal by Shekhar from the Greens. But this was not last as Steffan Fernandes replied in the very next minute for The Greens to bring an end to the game at 7-1.
