MARGAO: FC Goa’s hunt for a victory over defending champions Atletico de Kolkata continued as the teams settled for a 1-1 draw on Tuesday.
The Gaurs’ Marquee coach kept his cool at the post match conference even after being reminded of the head-to-head statistics.
“No it is not frustrating. They only beat us once. If Atletico de Kolkata had defeated four times I would have understood and been frustrated,” said the Brazilian tactician.
Zico was happy with the performance put in by his lads and was all praise.
Commenting on Baljit’s red card and the effect it had on the result, Zico said that, “I don’t think it was the turning point of the match. We created so many opportunities before the red card. I did not see the reason behind the incident as I was busy with the substitution.”
The match came to a standstill at the hour mark as the fourth official B. Balasubramanian was confused with his digital device and the foreign and Indian player quota.
“We lost a lot of crucial time during the substitutions as the fourth official did not know to use his device. The players cooled down and it broke the momentum. As we practice the entire week, the officials also should practice with their digital devices,” stated Zico candidly.
FC Goa marquee player did look shaky in defence as the 2002 World Cup winner with Brazil was edgy and also looked tired.
“I think I am very happy with Lucio. He played a great match just like he did in the opening game against Delhi Dynamos FC,” the former coach of Japan said, defending his countryman.
