MARGAO: Sun Moon Stars, Chandor registered a fluent 3-1 win over DPN, Curtorim to cruise into the quarter-finals of all-Goa Villa Marex Seamen Trophy football tournament, organized by Vila Marex Boys, Chandor, at Cavorim ground, Chandor, on Wednesday. Sun Moon Stars led 2-0 at half time.
Sun Moon Stars enjoyed total domination over their opponents and pushed them on the back-foot, especially in the opening sessions.
DPN struggled to catch the brisk pace of their opponents and had a tough time in containing the Sun Moon Stars’ rampaging forwards.
Sun Moon Stars surged ahead in the fifth minute of the game when Minguel slotted past the rival goalkeeper with a snap shot.
Spurred by the early lead, Sun Moon Stars tormented the rival defence with well sporadic raids. They doubled their lead midway after former Salgoacar midfielder Francis Andrade unleashed a left-footed drive which gave no chance to the rival goalkeeper.
Crossing over, Sun Moon Stars continued to enjoy the better share of exchanges and soon Vilson Barbosa put the issue beyond doubt when he punished the rival goalkeeper with a deft placement.
Down by three goals, DPN went all out and scored a consolation through the boots of John.
