Super-sub Benson leads Manora to victory

Scores two late goals; Jowett nets four goals as Velsao Sports Club humiliate Cortalim Villagers

CUNCOLIM: YC Manora defeated Cuncolim Union 2-0 in the GFA Second Division play-off match played  at Cuncolim ground on Tuesday.
YC Manora made a brilliant start in the match and seemed to have tamed the Cuncolim side in the first few minutes of the match with their striker Shubert Colaco who stepped up to execute a header of a cross from Nelson Barretto however the attempt hit the Cuncolim cross piece and went out of play in 6th minute.
Cuncolim Union got back with a counter attack through Samson Simoes whose shot from the top of the Manora box was defended well by Clifton Fernandes of Manora in the tenth minute. 
Manora’s Ivon Costa later volleyed the ball on target however his strike was pushed away to safety by David Rebello keeper of Cuncolim.
Shubert Colaco of Manora beautifully connected to the ball sent by Clydon Pereira inside Cuncolim box but shot blindly over the cross bar in the 25th minute.
Post resumption, Samson Simoes of Cuncolim took his power drive shot but it went inches wide in the 56th minute. 
Later, Ivon Costa of Manora could have easily rolled the ball home but failed to find the nets in the 67th minute.
Super substitute Benson Fernandes shot the ball home to open the account for YC Manora in the 83rd minute off Shubert Colaco’s assist.
Within six minute Benson Fernandes doubled the lead for YC Manora.
In another match at Velsao ground, Velsao Sports and Cultural Club defeated Cortalim Villagers 5-1.
Johnson Pereira opened the account for Cortalim Villagers in the 25th minute while Jowett Baretto scored four goals for Velsao in the 58th,70th,74th and 82nd minute. 
Cansio Soares added another goal for Velsao in the 41st minute.
