VALPOI: Surya Gaonkar, from rural village of Hivrem Sattari, excelled at an All-India Open Tennis Ball Cricket Tournament, winning man of the series award after emerging runners-up at the tournament, playing for his team GG Boys, Belgaum.
The tournament was held in Belgaum where Surya played for GG Boys along with nine other Goan players where 28 teams across India participated in the tournament.
In the final, playing against Riagard, GG Boys scored 83 runs in the allotted 10 overs which was successfully chased down by Riagard.
Surya Gaonkar scored 12 runs and took one wicket in the final match. In the whole tournament, in a total of five matches, Surya scored 78 runs and took five wickets.
