PANJIM: Sushil Nayak and Yasmin Sayed reigned supreme in Under 19 boys and girls singles events while Tejas Tendulkar and Anosia Chirayil emerged U-15 boys and girls singles winners, at the State level badminton tournament organised by Goa Badminton Association in collaboration with Morning Badminton Club and SAG, at Indoor stadium, Campal, on Thursday.
The championship featured top participants from North and South Goa district tournaments played earlier, who competed at the State level. Sushil Nayak teamed up with Yash Kunkalienker to emerge victorious in the U-19 boys doubles, thereby winning a double crown.
Anosia Chirayil emerged victorious while Niharika Tiwari settled for runners-up spot in the U-15 State level girls singles, in the U-15 boys category Tejas Tendulkar was crowned champion while Parth Kantak was named the runner-up. Yasmin Sayed won the U-19 girls singles while Anar Singbal settled for the second spot. In the U-19 boys singles category Sushil Nayak and Sairaj Machnoor were named winners and runners-up respectively. In the U-19 boys doubles category Sushil Nayak / Yash Kunkolienker defeated Cifert Jacques / Kiefer Jacques to win the crown.
Morning Badminton Club president Richard De Souza and executive member Agnel D’ Cunha along with GBA President Narahar Thakur and Secretary Sandeep Heble graced the prize distribution function.
