Suyash, Sachin help Tarvalem win

PANJIM: Tarvalem Cricket Club defeated Polem Cricket Club by 88 runs to advance in the qualifying round of 35th Nanda Lolayekar Trophy cricket tournament organised by Mashem Cricket Club, Canacona at Nirakar Maidan Dapot, Mashem, on Sunday.
Tarvalem Cricket Club won the toss and elected to bat. Suyash Prabhudesai and Tunish Sawkar opened the innings. But Tunish was victim of Shivam Mhapsekar in the very first over falling out on duck. 
Later, Suyash (130 runs, 11×4, 7×6) played a stroke full innings and Rohit Naik (45) and Raghuvir Lotlikar (35) also contributed.
Tarvalem CC piled up a huge score of 280 runs in allotted 35 overs.
For Polem CC, medium pacer Shivam bowled a good line and claimed four wickets for 54 runs. He was well supported by Saish Kamat 2/36 and Akhil Shet 2/47.
As Polem CC were chasing the target, they lost wickets at regular intervals and could not maintain the required run rate. Manthan Khutkar and Gaurav Desai, the main scorers of their last match got out very cheaply. Prathamesh Gawas also could not do much and got out on 22. Off spinner Sachin Bukkam bowled an excellent line on the flat batting track and no batsman could face him confidently.
The little resistance came from the tail as captain Deepak Pagi (33), Shivam (34) and Prabhav Faldesai (30) contributed with some runs. Finally, they were all out in 32.3 overs.
Brie score: Tarvalem CC 280/10 in 35 overs. Suyash Prabhudesai 130, Rohit Naik 45, Raghuvir Lotlikar 35. Shivam Mhapsekar 4/51, Saish Kamat and Akhil Shetye two wickets each.
Polem CC 192 all out in 32.3 overs. Deepak Pagi 34, Shivam Mhapsekar 33, Prabhav Faldesai 30. Sachin Bukkam 5/33, Yash Patil 2/42.
Tarvalem CC will now face Mashem Cricket Club in the finals of qualifying round while Sportweek Cricket Club will meet Bannerman on January 29.
