MARGAO: SWC Zaino registered a narrow 2-1 win over United Club of Telaulim in the Goa Football Association Second Division League at Rosary ground, Navelim, on Tuesday.
The teams played out a cautious first half as neither side showed attacking intent with the scores remaining goalless.
In the second half, SWC Zaino drew the first blood in the 47th minute through Pradeep Gaonkar.
Once up by a goal, Zaino took control of the game and soon doubled the lead in the 76th minute through Pradeep once again, who completed his brace. UC Telaulim managed to pull a goal back in the 79th minute through Silvan Fernandes.
At DBO ground, Fatorda, St Anthony’s SC Assolda humbled Varca SC 13-0. Sunny Fernandes broke the deadlock for the Assolda team in the third minute and then doubled the account in the 24th minute before Valento Fernandes added the third minutes later. The winners led 3-0 at the breather.
In the second half, things went from bad to worse for Varca SC as they conceded at regular intervals.
Welson Fernandes scored five while Rizban Fernandes netted a hat-trick for the winners in the second session.
Carry Vaz and Drayan Fernandes were the other goal scorers for the winners.
