T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 teams confirmed, full list and format

With the T20 World Cup 2026 currently in full swing, the line-up for the Super 8 stage — scheduled to begin later this week — has taken full shape. From the 20 participating nations, only the top two teams from each group progressed to the next round.

Two-time champions West Indies became the first side to qualify after a dominant nine-wicket win over Nepal in Group C. Defending champions India soon followed, securing their place with a commanding victory over arch-rivals Pakistan.

Last year’s runners-up South Africa advanced from Group D alongside New Zealand. Meanwhile, two-time winners England booked their berth after defeating Italy.

Co-hosts Sri Lanka became the first team through from Group B, while Zimbabwe joined them after a washout against Ireland knocked out Australia. Pakistan completed the Super 8 roster with a big win over Namibia.

The Super 8 phase begins on February 21 and runs until March 1. The eight teams will be split into two groups, with each side playing three matches. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

Notably, the International Cricket Council had pre-seeded eight teams based on T20I rankings. With Zimbabwe qualifying in place of Australia, they will assume the latter’s allocated position in Group 1.

Meanwhile, 12 teams bowed out in the league stage, including Nepal, Oman, Namibia, Ireland, Australia, Scotland, Italy, Afghanistan, UAE, Canada, Netherlands and USA.
