Talasha S Prabhu did Goa extremely proud as she was declared `the fastest female swimmer of the 37th Junior National Aquatic Championship which concluded in Bangalore on Sunday. Today, she broke the 100m freestyle National record with India’s best time of 59.50 sec to claim the coveted gold.
Yesterday, Talasha set yet another National mark clocking 2:31.53 in Group II girls 200m individual medley. Talasha erased the old record (2:32.53) set by Tejaswini V, Karnataka, 2006).
The talented Goan had earlier also set a National record in 50m butterfly and won the silver in 200m freestyle with a meet record.
Talasha won in all four gold and a silver with three National records and one meet record to place Goa among India’s five top States among 26 that competed in the 5-day event.
Talasha lost the individual championship just by a single point.
