MARGAO: Tamil Nadu emerged champions in the National Master’s Women Football Festival organised by Karuna Football Foundation’s Compassion FC defeating Goa via the tie-breaker 2-1 in the finals at SVD ground, Raia, on Friday.

Vasanthi and Pushpa scored for Tamil Nadu in the tie-breaker while Linet was the lone scorer for Goa. There was no score at full time.

Although the match was totally dominated by Goa with captain Laura and Julie playing a stellar role, it was TN goalkeeper Eliza F who stole the limelight, executing some excellent saves.

With the form that Eliza displayed during the normal time, it was clear that it would be difficult for Goa to get past her in the tie-breaker. And, it did happen so, as she effected four saves.

Earlier, in an exhibition match, Super Moms YFA lost by a solitary goal to Rest of India 0-1. Ex-international Seema from Kerala scored the match-winner.
