Tanisi dazzles; double crowns for Siddhant, Nagesh

PANJIM: Goa’s promising young sensation, Tanisi Kirtani clinched three titles, on each in girl’s sub-junior, junior and ladies categories in all-Goa BPS open major ranking table tennis tournament, at BPS hall, Margao, on Friday.

Dheeraj Rai bagged the top honours in the men’s final by getting the better of Vaibhav Dahebhate 12-10, 9-11, 11-2, 11-8, 4-11 and 11-5.
The highlight of the evening was a stellar performance by Tanisi, the Lusofonia gold medallist as she stormed her way in three finals.
The Dempo goodwill ambassador first defeated Urmila Mense 14-12, 11-6, 11-6 in the sub-junior girls final and then set her eyes on the junior girls title where she thumped met Urmila Mense once again and kept calm to defeat her opponent 11-6, 10-12, 12-10, 14-12. 
After winning two crucial matches, Tanisi carried on the momentum and concentration in the ladies final. Tanisi once again lived up to her expectation and grounded Vrashali Prassade in straight sets 11-8, 12-10 and 12-10.
Siddhant Parekh won the junior boys event by defeating Wesley do Rosario 13-11, 11-9, 11-7.  The duo also met in the sub-junior boys final where Siddhant secured his double crown with a hard fought 6-11, 9-11, 11-9, 11-9, 15-13 victory.
In the mini cadet boys, Nagesh Verenkar (BPS) bt Shantesh Mhapsenkar 4-11,11-8,13-11,11-7. Nagesh also secured the cadet boys prize with a 11-7, 11-9, 11-7 win over Vaidick Shrivastava.           
In the mini cadet girls category, Sneha Mesta bt Najida Sheikh                      11-6, 11-5, 11-9 while Sneha Rane go the better of Aditi Chodankar 11-8, 11-5, 11-6 in the cadet girls final.
