Tanisi steals the show at Rotary TT tournament

Wins triple crown; Wesley tops sub-junior, junior boys events; Dheeraj crowned men’s singles champion

PANJIM: Tanisi Kirtani won a triple crown, winning the sub-junior, junior and ladies singles finals at the All-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis tournament organized by Rotary Club of Panaji in association with the Sports Authority of Goa, at Indoor Stadium, Campal.
Wesley do Rosario bagged a double crown, emerging sub-junior and junior boys singles winner. Dheeraj Rai, who had earlier knocked top ranked Adarsh P out was crowned men’s singles champion.
Sneha Rane and Shantesh Mhapsekar walked away with cadet girls and boys singles titles respectively while in the veterans doubles event, Sachin Soares and Joseph Duarte romped home victorious.
Kushal Krishna Resham, who represented Bharat (India) at the Special Olympics was the chief guest for the occasion. The young special athlete who won a gold medal in roller skating at the Special Olympics touched the hearts of one and all with his delightful inspirational speech. 
Victor Vaz, president of Special Olympics Bharat (Goa); Rushali Cardozo, Trustee, Special Olympics Bharat (Goa); Gaurish Dhond, vice-president of GTTA; Shashank Mahatme, president of Rotary Club of Panaji and Sunil Parekh, chief tournament coordinator were also present. The championship was officiated by chief referee Noel Estibiero.
Final results: Cadets Boys: Shantesh Mhapsekar bt Nagesh Verekar 11-7, 11-2, 8-11, 11-7. Cadets Girls: Sneha Rane bt Sanisha Shetye 14-12, 11-8, 11-3.
Sub-Junior Boys: Wesley Rosario bt Mandar Joshi 11-6, 11-7, 11-5. Sub-Junior Girls: Tanisi Kirtani bt Tanya Patil 11-3, 11-2, 11-3.
Junior Boys: Wesley Rosario bt Siddhant Parekh 11-6, 6-11, 7-11, 11-9, 11-7. Junior Girls: Tanisi Kirtani beat Tanya Patil 11-3, 11-4, 11-3.
Ladies: Tanisi Kirtani beat Prutha Parrikar 11-3, 11-5, 11-4. Mens: Dheeraj Rai beat Manish Yadav 11-6, 10-12, 11-6, 8-11, 11-8, 11-7.
Veterans Doubles: Sachin Soares/ Joseph Duarte bt Prakash Alphonso/ Uday Walvalkar 11-8, 7-11, 11-9, 11-9.
