PANJIM: Defending champions Tarun Bharat will take on Goa Doot in the final of Vijay Gad Trophy inter-media cricket tournament at Campal on Thursday.
Tarun Bharat beat Navhind Publications by nine wickets in the first semi-final. Goa Doot defeated In Goa by 46 runs in the second semi-final on Wednesday.
In the first semi-finals, Navhind won the toss and batted firstbut managed to only post a modest total of 57 runs, losing seven wickets in the allotted 10 overs. Austin Dias remained not out with 26 runs. Tarun Bharat’s Anil Bandiwadekar and Sagar Karbotkar picked up two wickets each.
In reply, Tarun Bharat reached the victory target in 5.2 overs with nine wickets in hand. Anil Bandiwadekar was named Man-of-the-Match. Sagar was unbeaten on 16 runs.
In the second semi-final, Goa Doot beat In Goa by 46 runs. Put into bat, Goa Doot scored a huge total of 139 runs for three wickets. Vipul Pawar played a fantastic knock of 82 not out.
In Goa were restricted to 93 for the loss of six wickets, in their chase. Raj Pawar was the top-scorer with 22 runs.
