Technical staff hit by stone in Kochi, FC Goa lodge complaint

PANJIM: Adding to FC Goa’s disappointment of defeat was an unsavoury incident in Kochi where they played Kerala Blasters at the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru stadium on Sunday.

A member of FC Goa’s technical staff was hit by a stone while assisting substitute players warm up behind the goal during half-time.

According to a spokesman of the club, FC Goa, who lost 1-3 to Kerala Blasters, have lodged a complaint with the league and their opponents.

“FC Goa has requested the Kerala Blasters’ management to conduct an inquiry into the matter,” he added.

“We believe there’s video footage of the incident which could help our cause,” he added.

In a tweeted message, the club said, “FC Goa would like to communicate that the Club has written to the Kerala Blasters management expressing concerns in regard to security that was provided to the Club and our travelling supporters during our latest game in Kochi on Sunday.

“The club has highlighted particularly the issues faced in the ‘Away Stand’ which had a large presence of home fans, which led to unsavoury incidents which the club believes could have been easily avoided.

“The safety of our supporters remains one of our paramount concerns.”
