Wesley, Tanisi, Saloni, Roshni triumph

Tejas Shevde eased his way to a double crown in All-Goa Major Ranking Table Tennis Tournament organised by Panjim TT Club in association with JCI St. Inez and SAG at indoor stadium, Campal here on Sunday.
In the sub-junior finals,Tejas thumped second seed Krishal 11-8,11-4, 11-3 while he beat the same opponent by a 11-5, 11-3, 11-6 score in the junior event to claim his double.
In the cadet boys singles, Wesley Do Rosario, who had suffered a shock loss to Mangesh Sakordekar in the previous tourney, evened things out as he won 11-9, 13-11, 11-7 against the same opponent to claim the cadets boys crown.
In cadet girls, Tanisi Kirtani smashed her way to a 11-2, 11-3, 11-3 win over second seed Arantxa Noronha.
Meanwhile, Saloni Shirwoikar romped home to a victory over top seed Devika Sood. She won the battle 12-10, 11-9, 9-11, 11-8.
In sub-junior girls event top seed Roshni Gopani looked down and out as she lost the first two sets 3-11, 6-11 to second seed Kefira Rodrigues but came back strongly to win the next three 11-7, 11-5, 11-5.
Promising player prizes were awarded to Annalee Serrao, Shyamli Souza, Apoorva Bandekar, Leanda Araujo, Suraj Rathod, Devansh Cholera, Joel Andrade, Altaf Naikawadi, Nesmon Rodrigues, Aaron Pinto, Akhil Kulkarni and Pranav Naik.
The club also lauded the services of top TT players Ajit Ghantker, Diljeet Velingker and Agnelo Naik.
Nagesh Sardesai was the chief guest and distributed the prizes in the presence of guest of honour, industrialist Hilary Fernandes, Panjim TT Club president Chetan Kavlekar and secretary Sandeep Heble, JCI St. Inez president Rupesh Golatkar, Manoj Karapurkar.
The tournament was officiated by NIS coach Irwin Cordo who was assisted by Noel Estibeiro.
