PANJIM: The courts at the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias are heating up as it all boils down to the grand finale this Sunday.
In the Men’s singles category, Tejas, Bulu, Standal and Gustavo have made it into the semi-finals of the Clube Tennis de Gaspar Dias Open 2016 presently underway at the club.
Standal Pereira came through a grueling game against Nagesh. Both players fought it out till the end with Standal getting the all-important point to seal the win 9-8 in his favor. Bulu on the other hand has been showing great form in this tournament and came up with a 9-6 win over Newton to seal his place in the semi-finals. Standal and Bulu were joined by Tejas and Gustavo to complete the semi-finals spots.
In the Women’s semi-finals, Simran Khan got the better of Manuela as she progressed into the final winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-2 and will take on Charmaine.
In the second semi-finals, Charmaine stayed on course for a final berth coming through a hard fought game winning 6-4, 7-5. Both the ladies meet in the finals to be played on January 31.
Over in the Men’s doubles, Sachin and Raju came out on top with a 9-7 win over Allan and Noel while Kevin and Noah won 9-5 over Jude and Nagesh. Tejas and Bulu who have also made it in the singles semi-finals had a great outing in the doubles category as they overcame David and Manoj winning 9-1.
To complete the semi-finals spots in the Men’s doubles, Gustavo and Santosh got a bye over Ashley and Newton as Ashley sustained an injury.
