GOA VELHA: Holders The Anjuna Gymkhana scored a sudden death 7-6 win over Chandor Club to move into the quarter-finals of the 14th London Trophy inter village football tournament 2020 organised by Goa Velha Sports Club and played at Goa Velha Sports Club ground, on Tuesday.
Akyxa Vengurlekar put The Anjuna Gymkhana ahead in the first minute. The score read 1-0 in favour of The Anjuna Gymkhana at half-time.
Richard D’Sa scored the equaliser for Chandor Club in the 38th minute.
In the tie-breaker, The Anjuna Gymkhana scored through Rohan Kamble, Dinesh Moraskar, Abhishek Tuyekar, Soma Korgaonkar, Aniket Dabholkar, and Lester D’Souza. Chandor Club could score only through Irfan Yadwad, Louie Noronha, Sevaraj D’Costa, Daniel Costa and Richard D’Sa. Sadik Sheikh failed to score for Chandor Club.
Faheez Mohammed of The Anjuna Gymkhana and Irfan Yadwad of Chandor Club were cautioned by the match referee Yuvraj Tari.
The Anjuna Gymkhana will now meet Nerul Sports Club in the quarter-finals on March 23.
