The King’s School meet Fatima Convent in final today

PANJIM: The King’s School booked their place in the grand final of the 1st CSC Girls U-15 Futsal Cup 2019 after beating St Jude’s Betalbatim 6-5 via the tie-breaker in the first semi-final of the day.
The King’s School opened the scoring early in the first half through Aberny Fernandes, thereafter it was all St Jude’s as they attacked the rival citadel time and time again only to be denied by the woodwork and some brave goalkeeping by Leandra Pacheco of King’s.
St Jude’s finally equalised midway through the second half after Vienna Coelho put finishing touches to a Vinoshka Fernandes corner kick. Both teams had chances to take the lead but their strikers were guilty of missing chances.
With two minutes to go, King’s School took the lead through the boots of Lillian Fernandes but the joy of the supporters and players was short-lived as St Jude’s once again equalised with what was the last kick of the match taking the game to a shoot-out.
In the tie-breaker, Vienna Coelho, Velany Fernandes, Kanchan Paswan scored while Vinoshka Fernandes and Reusa Gonsalves missed for St Jude’s. For King’s School, Kartika Rawat, Kiyoshi Fernandes, Aberny Mascarenhas scored and Sania Carsozo missed, Leandra Pacheco scored the winning penalty for King’s School in the sudden death as she coolly slotted the ball into the left bottom corner to seal a place in the final.
Fatima Convent HS eased past Manovikas EMS by 10-2 to book themselves a final meeting with The Kings School. Meloshka Carvalho five goal blitz along with Paloma Pires’s four goals and Swellan Fernandes with one goal was too hot for the Manovikas team to handle. Gretel Pereira and Abigail Barretto scored for Manovikas.
Manovikas EMS will meet St Jude’s in the 3rd/4th play-off on Friday at 9 a.m. This will be followed by a friendly match between the Parent of Youth Futsal Academy, who go by the name Phoenix Warriors and finally the final between Fatima Convent HS and The King’s School will kick off at 10.30 a.m. Pallavi Buyao, principal (primary section) of Manovikas EMS will be the chief guest.
