AGENCIES, GUWAHATI: After a big 4-0 defeat against Chennaiyin FC in their last match, FC Goa returned to form in the Hero Indian Super League with a 3-1 win against NorthEast United FC, here, on Thursday.
Mandar Rao Desai, who scored his second game of the season, was satisfied with the win that tested his side’s character greatly.
“First when we conceded it was looking a bit difficult, but later it was ok when we scored the equalizer and even better when we made it 2-1 to take the lead. Then I think we played a good game and dominated the second half. It was a good game,” the midfielder told.
FC Goa had lost to Chennai at home on Sunday, and Mandar said getting three points from Thursday’s encounter were crucial for his team.
“Three points away from home are very crucial. The home team plays good because of the fans’support. And when we were 1-0 down it was looking a bit difficult but when we came back and took the lead we dominated. It was a good game for us.”
Mandar also revealed what team head coach Zico told them at the half-time break.
“We were leading 2-1 in the first half. So he wanted us to keep the lead, because we lost the last game and this was a very crucial game. So he just said that we should dominate the second half and try to score more goals,” Mandar said.
