MAPUSA: Tibet Women’s Football qualified for the final of the Goa Women’s Football Festival with a fluent 4-0 win over Viva North Bardez, at Duler Stadium, here, on Thursday. The winners scored twice in each half.
Tibet held the upper hand for major part of the proceedings, keeping their rivals pinned in their own backyard.
Jamyang Chotso along with Ngawang Otsoe did a remarkable job in the halfline, constantly feeding their strikers upfront.
Tibet did not waste much time and shot into the lead in the 6th minute of play when Rithar Dolma ran down the right flank and flashed the ball to Jamyang Chotso, who on making her way past the defender tapped the ball into the Viva North nets past the helpless keeper, 1-0.
Within a span of five minutes Tibet went further up by a goal when Ngawang Otsoe well executed 25-yard free-kick curled into the far corner of Viva North goal nets, 2-0.
Viva North had one close shave at the rival goal towards the end of the first half but Preet Shinde, India U-16 saw her free-kick miss the target by a whisker.
Changing ends Tibets hunger for goals did not cease and within seven minutes Jamyang Chotso and Sonam Dolma played a nice one two and charged into the rival goal area, where Jamyang on seeing the keeper off her line flicked the ball into the Viva North goal.
Dhondup Lhamo who came in as a substitute, fired in the final nail into the Viva North coffin when her stinging shot from outside the danger zone had no answer from the rival keeper, 4-0.
Viva North came close to reducing the margin towards the fag end of the match, however Tibet keeper Tenzil Dekyong displayed some excellent goalkeeping to keep Mansi Haldankar and substitute Cliantha D’Costa’s efforts at bay.
